DNC-Riffic

If you hadn't already realized, The Middle is Colorado, specifically Denver.

I work in the heart of the city, which means I am in the 7th circle of DNC hell.

For months I have watched as streets are re-painted and paved, street signs washed, lights replaced, businesses revamped and signs welcoming delegates and participants.

And now, DNC-ers!

Newly graduated young poli-sci and government majors who think they are going to change the world, walking around in their new suits, with their tourist bureau maps, in newly formed close knit groups, making last minute back alley deals - literally, I saw them this morning, brand new messenger bags and all.

Protesters, thinking they can make a difference.

Anti-abortion trucks - I hate these things, seriously, do they think that a few gruesome pictures are going to change someone's mind from pro-choice to pro-life? I think it does the exact opposite, it just pisses you off so much you go pro-C.

Political Tourists - people who follow political activity around the country. They also have maps and they cause traffic jams.

I should want to stick around, soak it all in, be part of history, possibly meet Barack Obama. But, honestly, I am just sick of it all. I don't like large groups of people anyway, but when they all just converge in front of my office building, I am only a few blocks away from several DNC locations, it just gets to me.

At least it's only a week.
